12-3-21 THOUGHTS

Isa 53:10    But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.

A few passages below help us think of the mental and physical anguish our Savior went through to defeat Satan and save us from sin.  Nothing was cheap. Nothing was easy!  THE CUP COULD NOT PASS!   Don’t we owe our ALL?           [Deut 6:4-6]

John 12:27    "Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.
Matt 26:28    for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.
Matt 26:36-44    Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to His disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." 37  And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed.  38  Then He said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me."  39  And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."  40  And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?  41  "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."  42  He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done."  43  Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.  44  And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.
Luke 22:41-44   And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray, 42  saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."  43  Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. 44  And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.   [abide in this scene for a time...]
John 12:27-28     "Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.  28  "Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came out of heaven: "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."
Heb 5:7  In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.
Heb 2:14   Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

My Prayer:
May we continually be aware of the price of our sin!  It was your plan from the beginning, O God,  to pay the price with Jesus!  Thank you forever!    In Jesus name, Amen
